What if I don’t have a DUNS #?
Apple requires an active DUNS # to enroll in the Apple Developer Program. A DUNS # is a unique numerical identifier assigned to an organization to identify and verify business information. DUNS #s are registered through Dun & Bradstreet.
You can request a free DUNS # for your organization through:
- Go to Dun & Bradstreet
- Follow the four steps listed on the page
- DUNS #s are free, and registration can take up to 30 days to complete
What if my DUNS # has expired or has incorrect information?
Apple requires an active DUNS #, listed as a “Headquarters” or “Single Location.” Expired profiles and “Branch” locations are not accepted.
You can renew or correct a DUNS # through the following steps:
- On Dun & Bradstreet, click the “D-U-N-S Number Lookup Tool”
- Search for “My Company, using the Business Name, State, and additional filter options
- Click “View/Edit Company Information” on the correct profile
- You will be asked to log in or create an account
- D&B will request business documents to verify the changes requested
Why was my DUNS # rejected during enrollment?
Apple may reject a DUNS # due to:
- An expired DUNS Profile (confirm the status of your DUNS # through the Lookup Tool)
- Using a DUNS # listed as a “Branch” location
- Using a DUNS # that is registered as an Individual
- Using a DUNS # that is Out of Business
- The legal entity status selected on enrollment differs from the entity status registered with the DUNS # (for example: you enrolled as a company for the Apple Developer Account, but your DUNS profile has your organization as a 501c3)
- Spaces or typos in the Legal Business Name or DUNS Number field
- Your DUNS Profile Company Name must match what was input on your Apple Developer Account application.
