📌 Messaging – Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who Can Create a Messaging Channel?
Only users who are part of your organization, with a Snap! Mobile account, can be given access to create messaging channels (usually coaches and admins). Contact your administrator if you feel you do not have the correct access/permission.
2. Can I create a channel from the mobile app?
No. Channels can only be created from the web browser version of the messaging dashboard.
The mobile app is for using chats, not creating them.
3. What’s the difference between Broadcast and Two-Way Chat?

Use Broadcast for announcements, schedules, and reminders.
Use Two-Way Chat when you want responses (e.g., athletes confirming availability)
4. Can parents and students be in the same channel?
Yes. When creating the channel, select Students as the audience.
This allows both students and parents to join the same space.
5. Why does the system recommend selecting “Students” when both parents & students will join?
Student accounts have stricter communication settings for safety compliance.
Choosing Students ensures the channel allows both groups without permissions issues.
6. How do people join a channel?
There are three invite methods:
âś… QR Code / Link (fastest, great for practice or parent meetings)
âś… Email Invite (single or small group)
âś… Import File Upload (bulk email list upload)
7. Why don’t athletes or parents show up in the channel after I invite them?
They must create their Snap! account first and log in (the app) using the same email that was invited.
8. Who can see every channel in the school?
Only Athletic Directors (Admins).
Coaches can see only the channels they create or are added to.
9. Can an AD join a coach’s channel anytime?
Yes — ADs have full visibility and can join, edit, or remove members from any channel if needed.
10. Can coaches remove members from a channel after it’s created?
Yes — if they are moderators of that channel.
If not, the AD will need to make the edit.
11. What roles can be added as moderators?
- Head coaches
- Assistant coaches
- Team managers
- Booster parents
- ADs
Moderators can send messages, manage members, and change channel settings.
12. Why can’t I see the Messaging icon at all in my app?
Likely reasons:
- You haven’t been invited into Messaging yet
- You haven’t accepted your invite email + created a login
- You’re logged in using a different email than the one invited
Fix: Ask the AD to resend your invite.
13. Can I delete a channel completely?
Channels can’t be deleted, only disabled. Chats will ALWAYS exist for the AD for visibility, even disabled channels. Only admins can disable channels. Coaches can remove themselves as a channel member, but cannot dislike a channel.
14. Does Messaging work even if users never log in on desktop?
Yes. Once the account is created all messaging happens directly in the app.
15. What if a coach leaves the school but still has access?
The AD can:
1. Remove them from Org Settings → Snap Mobile Users
2. Remove them from any channels they belonged to
3. Disable their ability to log in
