🏫 Messaging Step-by-Step Guide for Athletic Directors
Using Messaging to Communicate with Group Leaders, Parents, and Athletes
Messaging lets ADs oversee and participate in school communications. You can see every channel group leaders create, join channels when needed, and manage settings and membership.
🗂️ 1) Access Messaging
- Log into https://messages.snap.app/
- Click the Messaging icon in the top-right corner from your dashboard
- You’ll land on Messaging Dashboard
👥 2) Add Your Group Leaders to Messaging (required before they can create channels)
Follow these exact steps:
- Go to https://home.snap.app/organization or
a. Go to Messaging Admin in your dashboard
b. Click the Messaging icon in the top-right corner
c. Select Org Settings - Open the Snap! Mobile Users tab
- Click Invite
- Enter the coach’s email address
- Choose the user role
- Click Continue
- Click Send Invite
Tips:
- You can resend or remove pending invites from Org Settings → Snap Mobile Users.
- Invites are sent from your account; coaches should check for an email from Snap.
👀 3) View and Manage Messaging Channels (Admin Access)
- As an administrator, you can see every existing channel created by your group leaders.
- You can join any channel for visibility.
- You can edit channels: rename, change chat type (Broadcast vs Two-Way), add/remove moderators, and manage members.
💡 Admins have full visibility into all channels at the school.
💬 4) Create a New Messaging Channel
- Go to Messaging.
- Click New Chat.
- Select Program Channel (ignore Direct Message for now).
- Pick the chat type:
- Two-Way Chat – everyone can reply
- Broadcast Only – only moderators post; others read only
- Choose Audience Type: If students will be in the channel at all, choose Students (you can still add parents).
- Name the channel (e.g., Theater 2025, Varsity Football).
- (Optional) Add a brief description.
- Click Create Channel.
🛠️ 5) Add Moderators (Optional)
- After creating the channel, you’ll be prompted to add moderators (assistant coaches, team managers, booster reps).
- Or click Skip & Finish if none are needed.
📩 6) Invite Members (Students/Parents)
Choose one of three invite methods:
- Invite via Link or QR Code – fastest; share at practice or parent meetings.
- Invite by Email – send a few personal invites.
- Import File – bulk upload email list to send many invites at once.
⚡ Members must create their Snap! Mobile account with the same email they were invited with to appear in the channel.
7) Use Messaging in the Mobile App
- Coaches, students, and parents log into the Snap! Mobile app or the School’s app using the same credentials they used on the web.
- They’ll see the Messaging icon in the top-right of the app to read and send messages.
🚫 New channels can only be created from the web browser, not from the app.
✏️ 8) Edit Channels Anytime
From Messaging Admin (three-dot menu on a channel), you can:
- Rename the channel or update its description/image
- Switch Broadcast ↔ Two-Way Chat
- Add/remove moderators and members
🆘 9) Quick Troubleshooting
- Coach can’t see Messaging? → Confirm their invite was accepted.
- Channel not showing in app? → Make sure they’re using the same login as on the web.
- Members missing? → They may not have created their Snap! Mobile account yet.
- Still stuck? → Contact Snap! Mobile Support.
