Common Apple Developer Account Questions & Issues

What do I need to start the Apple Developer process?

The four basics required to begin enrollment in Apple Developer are:

  1. An organization with a legal entity status (no DBAs, trade names, or fictitious businesses)
  2. An active DUNS # from Dun & Bradstreet
  3. A website domain for the organization
  4. A professional email that matches the website domain (for example, snapraise.com and @snapraise.com).
    1. Emails ending in @gmail.com, @yahoo.com, etc. will not be accepted.

I enrolled in the Apple Developer Program but did not request a fee waiver. Can my fee still be waived? (for nonprofit and educational institutions only)

Apple waives the registration fee for educational institutions, registered nonprofits, and government entities. If your organization meets the requirements, you can request a fee waiver at any time before your membership expiration date. Request a fee waiver for an existing account here.

During enrollment, I received the message, "Your organization is not listed as a legal entity." What does this mean?

The business you entered is either listed in the D&B database with a different legal status (such as a sole proprietorship), or its legal status has not been verified. When enrolling, make sure to use the legal entity name of your organization, as Apple does not accept DBAs, fictitious businesses, trade names, or branches for enrollment as a company/organization. If your legal status is a sole proprietorship/single person business, enroll as an individual. If you believe your business should be listed as a legal entity, have your business registration documents ready and email D&B. Complete business registration documents are required to verify your organization’s legal status.

We already have an Apple Developer Account, but I’m unsure who the admin is. What can I do?

If you cannot identify who the Apple Developer account holder is, you can request that Apple transfer ownership to an active member of your team. Apple will attempt to contact the current account holder and, if unsuccessful, can grant the transfer of ownership. This process can take a few weeks.

You can send the below request to Apple Developer Support to start this process:

Please initiate the transfer of ownership for this Apple Developer Account, as we do not have contact with the former account holder. We request ownership be transferred to:
